Tescos The "Plaice" to Eat
I arrived at Tesco Inverness at mid-day on Thursday, after hours of Christmas shopping, my wife suggested we have some lunch at the Tesco eatery.
I was a bit apprehensive knowing that the "breakfast" choices and standards were very poor.
She said she would treat me to lunch, any apprehensions were soon quelled and we shot off in the direction of the eatery.
Being a gentleman I allowed the spouse to go first, giving me a chance to weigh up the products on display, and then we both decided on the fish.
I watched a fish approx 10" x 4" served on my wifes plate, and then to my horror, I saw the last remaining fish which measured approx 5"x4.5" placed on a plate and offered to me, I was incensed by this and uttered "you must be joking" but she ignored me and forced it on to my tray, and then turned to serve the customer next to me.
"Excuse me" I exclaimed, I am not accepting this half fish, she glared at me,and stood there speechless, I said, "I am not accepting this half fish", she just looked blank and shrugged. I said, "I refuse to accept this excuse for a fish".
My wife uttered quietly "It's alright I will take it and you can have this one"
I retorted "Be quiet I am handling this"
By now a small queue had formed, I could clearly see this young lady was out of her depth and could not handle this situation, "Fish size" was not on her list of customer complaints.
She scurried off and came back with her manager, they both mumbled and pointed at me from a distance, then the manager came up to me and said, Now sir what's the problem, I pointed to the sardine on my plate, she looked at it and said " Yes all I can do is charge this as a childs portion"
That took me by surprise, and for a few seconds had to think about it, I then turned to her and said" No that's not the point, I am starving and want a big fish, OK then, but you will have to wait.
I stood by the side of the serving area for some time, when another member of staff asked me "what would you like" I said "I am waiting for a fish"
she said, but there's a fish there and proceeded to serve it onto a plate, I shouted "No" "No", this allerted the other young lady and she turned round, and said, I am serving him, Tell him to go and sit down and we will take it over to him when it is ready.
By now my embarresed spouse had practically finished her meal, and was wondering what the hell had possessed me.
This was the last straw, I feel my comrades would be proud, embarressed but proud,of the stand I made against sub standard food products and shoddy customer care.
Oh by the way, I enjoyed the meal it was excellent, and I returned the trays.
